The atheist’s philosophy.
Please keep in mind these are all opinions.
I’m an atheist, obviously, for a fuckton of reasons, but those aren’t quite important. What is important is the second part of my philosophy— beyond, “No deity exists,”— which is as follows:
- I will never, ever demean someone for their opinion. Even if I think they’re out-of-this world wrong. They’ve probably put a lot of thought into it, and I don’t want to start anything.
- Following that vein is my philosophy that hatred isn’t a word to be taken lightly, and I will never use it to hurt someone. I’ve tried to get rid of every bias I hold, which is nearly impossible, and because of that I will no longer say things like, “I hate homophobes,” or, “I hate [insert politician here].” I may disagree with them about everything from abortion to the placement of the moon in the night sky, but I will not hate them.
- I won’t force anyone to do what I did and eliminate their bias. I simply encourage it.
- At times I get an almost pseudo-Buddhist air about me, when I remember I’m human and so is everyone else; therefore, everyone else and I are fundamentally the same. It’s a strong feeling which doesn’t happen often.
- All of this applies to everything I do, including fandoms.
Most of this is directly related to Sarah’s influence.
